September 29: Flying kites around the Tribhuvan International Airport has been banned.

A notice issued by the the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Wednesday has warned of action against anyone found flying kites near the airport.

 CAAN, the government body responsible for the regulation and oversight of aviation sector in Nepal, argued that flying kites around the airport would pose risks to aircraft.    
The CAAN requested the public not to involve in such activity citing aviation safety.    
It also warned of taking stern action as per the law against anyone involving in such activities. With the commencement of festivals including Dashain, people in general fly kites at different places of the country including TIA vicinity. -- RSS
