August 29: The Nepal Railway Company has been spending over Rs 50 million annually for washing a rail being operated on the Jayanagar-Kurtha route.
The company shared that it has to undergo washing service in India as it lacks its own washing centre.
"We are compelled to get the rail washed in India because we do not have our own washing centre and fuel centre," said Niranjan Kumar Jha said, general manager of the company, adding, "We annually spend over Rs 50 million for the service."
Jha further said that the company has to pay 28 percent tax while filling up fuel in India.
“With this we are compelled to spend huge chunk of money every year".
Jha claimed that the company can earn an annual surplus of Rs 70 million if it is possible to establish Nepal’s own washing centre and fuel centre. -- RSS
