August 25: Most parts of the country received below average rainfall during this monsoon, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).
As per the information provided by the department, Madhes Province and western parts of the country received below average rainfall despite some parts including eastern belts and the Kathmandu Valley having had above average rainfall.
The failure of wind carrying water vapour to enter the northern sides in enough amount due to the monsoon low pressure line is to be blamed for the low rainfall in the country, said meteorologist Hira Bhattarai.
Unlike in the past, most parts of the country did not receive torrential rainfall for four to five consecutive days this monsoon except in some hill areas including the Kathmandu Valley, said meteorologist Sanjib Adhikari.
In general, the country receives rains for around 110 days between mid-June and mid-October following the entrance of monsoon wind, said the department. -- RSS
