Government forms High-level Commission to Review Salary of Civil Servants   

August 24: The government has decided to form a high-level salary and facilities commission to review the minimum salary, allowances, remuneration and facilities of the civil servants and workers.    
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 22 has constituted the commission under the convenorship of former Chief Secretary Leelamani Paudyal for carrying out necessary study for revising the salary, allowance, remuneration and facilities of government employees and workers. The commission has been asked to conduct the study and make recommendation on the basis of the country's economic condition and its spending capacity.    
Addressing a news conference organised at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday to make public the decisions made by the cabinet meeting, Communications Minister and the government spokesman Gyanendra Bahadur Karki confirmed that the government had decided to  form the High-level Salary and Facilities Commission to review the salary and facilities.    
The cabinet meeting has also agreed in principle to call for tender and move forward the procurement process in special circumstances for the construction works of the 5.5 kilometres Mudkhu-Tinpiple section of the Balaju-Trishuli road.
