December 31: Telephone and internet services in Gurja of Dhaulagiri Municipality-1 of Myagdi district have been disrupted due to rainfall and snow for the past two days. Ward Chairman Jhak Bahadur Chhantyal informed that the telephone and internet services of Nepal Telecom have been disrupted due to the continuous snowfall since Tuesday night.

“The village has been left without communication due to the snowfall. Repairs will be done after the weather clears up,” said Wardn Chair Chhantyal.

Similarly, the roofs of houses have turned white due to the snowfall in Sinkos river bank area of Dhaulagiri-4 Mudi. The roofs of the houses in the river bank, Sinkos and other settlements that fall under the Dhulagiri foot trail are covered by the snow. Even the trees are covered with a blanket of snow. Although the farmers are happy with the snowfall, those who rear cattle are in trouble as they are not able to manage grass for the livestock. The upper region of Myagdi received heavy snowfall on Wednesday.

According to Bal Bahadur BK of Mudi, the locals are facing great trouble after the snow got deposited over the house. Considered as the most rural area of the district, the village of Gurja is located at an altitude of 3,220 meters above the sea level. Gurja and the areas surrounding the village received heavy snowfall. People's life in the village has become difficult due to the snowfall.

Children and the elderly have been most affected by the snowfall. The movement of people has come to a halt as well in Deurali and Lulang rural municipalities due to snowfall. Up to four feet deep snow has been deposited in Gurja.
