December 28: A one-megawatt solar project built by Api Power Company of Dhanusha has been connected to the national grid since Monday, December 27.

The solar project is based in Mithila Municipality-1 of Dhanusha district. The solar project has been connected to the Dhalkebar substation 2 km away via an 11-kV transmission line. The Nepal Electricity Authority will be buying the electricity produced by the project at a rate of Rs 7.30 per unit.

The company started generating electricity by placing 2,688 solar panels of 450 watts in an area spread over ​​4.5 bighas. It is a solar power project of the company which has come into operation with the objective of generating commercial electricity with private investment.

It is estimated that more than Rs 9 million has been invested in this project financed by Bank of Kathmandu as the sole investor of the project.

Guru Prasad Neupane, chairman of Api Power Company, has claimed that the power distribution system of Dhanusha will be improved after the solar power project is connected to the national transmission system.

The company, which has been working in the field of power generation, has already constructed and brought 8.10 MW solar power project at Tilottama of Butwal, 8 MW at Parwanipur, 5 MW at Chandranigahapur of Rautahat and 1 MW at Simara into operation.

The company had already completed the construction of 16 MW hydropower projects of Naugad and Upper Naugad in Darchula prior to this project.

Chairman of the company, Neupane informed that the 40 MW Upper Chameliya Hydropower Project under construction in Darchula will come into operation by January 2024.
