<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif"">The CIAA filed the case against the retired officer at the Special Court charging him of amassing the amount illegally during his 35-year service to the government.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif"">According to the anti-graft body, the detailed study of Thapaliya’s income and expenditure since he started the government job on February 18, 1984 till his retirement on April 13, 2019 could only establish the source of income amounting to Rs 10.2 million. However, Thapaliya has been found of spending and investing an Rs 20.67 million during the review period, out of which the source of income of Rs 16.4 million is unknown. The CIAA decided to file the corruption case against Thapaliya after this source of income could not be verified. The anti-graft body has sought a bail amount equal to the money he amassed through unconfirmed sources.</span></span></p>
