June 4: Nepal Telecom (NT) has extended its service in Rasuwa, Taplejung, Dolpa and Mustang in a bid to provide telecommunication services to the rural parts of the country.

The state-owned telecommunication service provider said that it has expanded telecommunication services in an effort to reach every nook and corner of the country. NT started providing telecommunication service in Rasuwa by setting up a BTS tower at an altitude of 4,390 meters.

NT claimed that around 500 households will be benefitted from the service including the visitors of Langtang National Park and Gosaikunda. Likewise, NT has also set up another BTS tower at an altitude of 3,242 in Rasuwa. This will benefit a total of 700 people of 200 households in the area.

Likewise, a BTS tower has been set up in Taplejung at an altitude of 3,825 meters. This will benefit a total of 80 households in the region as well as trekkers at Kanchanjunga Base Camp, according to a statement issued by NT.

Nepal Telecom has also set up BTS towers at Shey-Phoksundo National Park and Mukot of Dolpa. The two towers will provide telecom service to around 2000 customers.

Likewise, two more towers have been established in Mustang. This will benefit the locals as well as travellers visiting as far as Korala border point in the northern frontier.
